A Novel Chaotic Optimization‐Oriented Model for Bridge Maintenance and Rehabilitation Planning

Abstract The rise in percentage of deteriorated bridges coupled with the escalation maintenance costs call for systematic bridge management systems. Therefore, this research paper introduces an exponential chaotic differential evolution (ECDE) model optimizing plans at both project and network levels. developed optimization is envisioned on addressing performance, economic, social, environmental aspects management. In addition, it exploits use sequences to circumvent critical shortcomings local minima entrapment premature convergence encountered by classical metaheuristics. validity experimented using a comparative analysis wide set elements over varying multi‐year plan. Comparison results reveal that ECDE‐based Sinusoidal algorithm improve performance diagnostics meta‐heuristics values ranging from 49.2% 73.1% plans. It can be argued could benefit transportation agencies formulating flexible, sustainable, cost‐effective strategies addition preserving structural condition designated network.
